Mother & Daughter Day!

Had a wonderful day at The Women's Conference in Long Beach, CA. I am so happy that my daughter joined me. We enjoyed a nice lunch and then began our journey. It's a good thing that we were dedicated to volunteering because boy was it a journey! We looked like strays while we walked outside the entire convention center, looking for the volunteers entrance to the event. We persevered so that we could provide information on the very worthy cause: Walk With Sally
Walk With Sally is dedicated to providing mentoring support programs and services to children of parents or siblings with cancer - one child at a time, one heart at a time

My daughter and I greeted 1000's of women from the Southern California area and nationwide, as well. I felt good to share that precious time with my daughter. Also in attendance were FLOTUS Michelle Obama, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and California First Lady Maria Shriver.

More than 100 vendors were also at the conference with their dazzling lights and animated displays. We wrote on walls and rode in stagecoaches. We ate old fashioned carmels, apple slices and milano cookies. : )  We were also given grown-up-styled lunchables with smoked turkey, cheese and chive spread with whole grain crackers and a piece of fancy toblerone chocolate. Chocolate makes it ALL better! I don't care what the problem is.

At the end of the day, we were beat but empowered and informed! What a great day.

My Heart is Hurting

I know that God would visit a sick friend in their time of need; so, that's what I should do, right? Right. I have, but it's hard. You see, my friend has not always been the nicest, nor the most easy-going. Heck, she'd give the waiter, the bus boy, AND the valet a hard time, EVERY time. How often do you dine out? EVERY time, she'd let them have it. She is like my sister and I love her, in spite of herself.

The more I think about the situation that caused a rift between she and I, the more I hone in on my feelings. I am a sucker for a good story, most times. If I have it, and someone says they need it, I give it. Sometimes there is a genuine need, and sometimes not. I firmly believe that God blesses me for giving, whether the need was genuine or not. In my opinion, the worst part about giving, is betrayal. Some people will do anything for money. If I have it and you know I will give it, why be dishonest? My heart is hurting.

If you have it, and I need it; but you don't give it? My heart is hurting. Guess how much liquid cash you have? I am in need, but you don't give it? My heart is hurting.

I visited my sick friend, but no mention of the rift. I am in need. Do I let it go or do I say something? Do I visit again or not? My heart is hurting.
